A co-worker has been driving an
S5 while his A5 is getting its A/C system replaced.

It’s an upselling tactic. They let you experience the nicer models as loaners so that you’ll go for one when it’s trade-in time.

Oh yeah, definitely - h e’s already mentioned their gauging his interest. Still neat that they’ll let someone use a $100k (I think) car as their daily driver for a couple of weeks.

Lexus won’t even loan me an IS250. I think I'll ask for the LC next time and see if they can hold a straight face.

They probably know what your other car is.

Yep, my parents have gotten an SQ5 and an S3(!) as loaners for their Q5, even during minor out-of-warranty recall work.
Honda handed me a business card for Enterprise in exchange for spending almost the same amount of money with them on a new car.

A nicely equipped S5 Sportback is around $70k Canadian, not bad value for the money.

Huh, that’s much less than I’d expected. Still a decent chunk of change more than the standard A5 sportback and a nice upgrade for a loaner though.

Yep, my dad got an A8L and an S4 when his Q5 was in the shop, which was often because Audi.

Not my Audi dealer. When I’ve brought the S3 in for service I always get a poverty-spec A4. It’s still a nice car, but literally a zero option, base model.

My Subaru dealer is similarly stingy. I got an automatic base model Impreza the one time I needed a loaner, it suuuucked.
